![]() Now my reasoning wasn't the quality! They are GREAT knives, some of the best I've ever had the pleasure of handling. ![]() After handling it for a day or two, I ended up selling it. I personally did this once with a Chris Reeve Sebenza, I bought it because people had been going on and on about them. If you end up liking the SnG/SmF, etc over the other makers, great! Just don't buy one because someone on a forum says they're the best. So, like anything, makers have fanbois when it comes to their work. I would bet that if you held a Sebenza, XM-18, Emerson, and Strider, you would be less then impressed with the strider's feel compared to the other makers. If you buy another custom makers work, you should probably change it out before you send your knife in.īack to fit and finish for a moment, I recommend ANY knife buyer to go to a brick and mortar and handle the knife before you buy one. If you buy Hinderer mods (filler tabs, anodized standoffs, scales) you are fine. Rick Hinderer is another who might warrant the knife depending on what you customize. But as far as I can tell, they DONT stand behind their work.)Įmerson doesn't seem to care, and will warrant their knives for the lifetime of the knife. (Not that they would know if you changed them back. Strider CLEARLY states that even if you change out the screws, you void your warranty. In fact I'd say Emersons were better made and cost about 1/2. In the case of Striders, I don't see "fit and finish" there. (With the exception of the customs which are really nice)Ī lot of people consider "fit and finish" to be important. I've handled a lot of Striders and in my opinion they are worth maybe 1/2 of what they are sold for in general. I wouldn't buy one of his knives simply because I don't see the value for the quality of the knives. There are a lot of people out there like him. I don't really care what Mick did or didn't do. Same with Mick, (granted I have never served in the Military, so lying about his Military experiences doesn't bother me as much as it would people who have served or are closely associated with those that do) if I met him and he was a jerk, you can bet I wouldn't buy his stuff. Now, if he was rude to me or did something to me personally, I wouldn't give him a dime. I wouldn't hesitate to get a Sebenza, even knowing that Chris Reeve might not be the best people person. Still, it doesn't change the quality of his knives. I understand those who will not give Mick their business and more power to you, that is your choice and I respect it 100%.įrom some of the posts on the forum recently, it sounds like Chris Reeve is a total, I am just going off of what I hear /read (never met the man personally). I am aware of all of the controversy surrounding Mick (Felony charge and embellishing his military history), but I personally really like the knife design and am currently saving to get one. For me it boils down to the knife itself.
